As soon as you do register, you agree to comply to the Posting Guidelines and the Terms & Conditions.
The default Home Page www.whytake.net is also the main registration page, but you can also click on Connect and then click Sign Up for Whytake
Use your Real Name - As we are a directory of Nature Photographers, we need users to register with their true name.
Use only English Alphabet in your names with NO ACCENTS - every registered user has a specific URL for their profile, and these cannot contain accents.
Ideally you should use a medium security password(between 6-8 characters in length) - letters and numbers only.
Once you have entered your correct details and clicked Register, you receive a message:Sign Up for Whytake is successful, please read; An email has been sent to your registered email address that containing a link to activate your account.
Please also check your Spam/Junk folder.
The email contains a link to validate your email address and complete the activation of your account.
If the link does not open, copy it and paste it manually into your browser;if you find the email in your Spam/Junk mail box, please remember to tag them as not Spam/not Junk.
Once you have activated your account you can log in at any time by entering your email address and password wherever you are asked for it. You can click the (keep me logged in) box and your browser should remember your details and log you in automatically to your home page when you visit whytake.net
Whytake.net is designed to be a public website. We do not ask you for any personal, or sensitive information, and your email address is never published by us.
You have a choice when you complete your profile what information you choose to disclose. We are not responsible for the consequences of what you choose to publish.
You can, if you wish, delete your account on whytake.net by clicking the link in the edit profile section. Warning - ALL your posts, comments and Portfolio images will be deleted.
Once you are a registered user, you have a public profile on whytake.net To begin entering your information, click on the EDIT PROFILE link that is located in the top right of the browser window. A new window opens with four headings down the left side.
The web site is a powerful directory and search engine, the more accurate the information you include, the more useful it is for people trying to find you.
Please, only add information relating to your actives as a Nature Photographer.
Enter a Company Name IF your company specialises in Nature Photography related product and service.
Tick the Languages that you will mainly use to post on your WALL or in your Blog. This allows users to find photographers who write in their preferred language.
Here, you can add an avatar for your profile. Please stick to the posting guidelines - ONLY use one of the following -
A recent photo of yourself
A nature image you have taken
A Nature Photography Business LOGO.
Your Bio is limited to 600 characters and should refer to your experience as a Nature Photographer - you can use the RETURN key to add paragraphs. Tick Specialities to highlight your main subjects that you photograph. You can tick more than one if appropriate.
This is the IMAGE UPLOAD area for your images. It is important to complete as much detail as possible to make the Search Engine more accurate.
If you do not select a Category, Environment & Country, your image will be rejected and not uploaded. You need to start again.
Images that do not meet our posting guidelines for content restrictions will be deleted.
Once the image has been accepted, you can add Title, Description and Tags - Take the time to make this information meaningful, other users/editors/buyers can find your images by keyword search. (subject name, location, Style etc.)
Thumbnails on the web site are displayed as square crops. We have included a tool for you to select this square crop yourself to maximise the presentation of your thumbnails. Click the corner and drag to select your preferred square.
Once images are loaded, they can be found in your personal Portfolio - When you are logged into whytake.net you can access your own Profile at any time by clicking on your own name wherever it appears, or click CONNECT.
When in your Profile, your Portfolio is located in the grey bar below the main menu, next to Favorites.
To Edit an image, hover the mouse over the thumbnails and an EDIT/DELETE link appears at the bottom of the image. OR, click on the image and there is an EDIT button below the full size image.
Change any details and click SAVE CHANGES.
Warning - Deleting the image is permanent and cannot be reversed.
This is the UPLOAD area for your Products & Services. It is important to complete as much detail as possible to make the Search Engine more accurate.
If you do not select a Category, your Product will be rejected and not uploaded. You need to start again.
Products & Services that do not meet our (Link - posting guidelines) for content restrictions will be deleted.
You can list up to 20 Products & Services in your Profile - Please delete expired events.
Firstly, the Whytake.net panel is constantly selecting new images for the Inspire Galleries.
Secondly, selected by our invited Professional & Award winning Nature Photographers
Thirdly, the Most Popular and Most Impact Images - ones that have been added most as Favourites are all considered for Inspire.
The idea with the Inspire Section is to showcase a selection of some of the best images on Whytake.net - We cannot show all of them, but it is a good place to visit to get a quick boost of Inspiration in your chosen category.
There is a Refresh button located on the far right of the grey menu bar. You can also visit other photographer's favorites to explore more inspiring images.
Click on any image to open it in full size, or hover your mouse over an image and click the name of the photographer to visit their profile, where you can access their entire portfolio. Lights off below the Image means view the image on black background, lights on will take to back to the page.
When you open any image full size, there is an Add to favorites button. If you click this, the image is added to your favorites.
It was decided very early in development of Whytake.net that we wanted to eliminate a competitive environment on the site. The point of Whytake.net is for Nature Photographers to Showcase and Share their work. It is not about critiques, comments or ratings.
This is not a critique forum, our aim is to build a global database of nature photographer and nature images.
This section represents everything about you as a nature photographer on whytake.net It is the centre of all your information and images. Users who want to know more about you or view your portfolio, will come here.
Your profile shows all your public information, including your wall posts and your subscriptions. These areas are public to maximise the sharing philosophy of the web site.
Wall - only display your own posts.
Subscriptions - display all the posts by the photographers you subscribed.
Notification displays:
1: Someone has subscribed to you;
2: Your images have been added to favorites;
3: Photographers you are subscribed to have uploaded an image to their portfolio;
Product and Service - Displays the products and services uploaded by you.
Nature photography related only.
Any images that you upload to your portfolio are displayed here. You can Upload Images directly from here by clicking the Add Portfolio Image link to the far right corner of the grey menu bar. Sometimes image don't load, please check the format, we only accept standard jpg, png, gif file. For example, currently we don't accept JPG format image contains ICC Profile.
Any images you add to your favourites can be viewed here, its a great way to build your own inspiration library.
Your wall is provided for you to share updates and links related to your activities a a Nature Photographer.
This area is for text based updates only - short news or status.
This area is for posting links of your internal or external links of your portfolio, gallery, blog & news. The only restriction is that they are related to Nature Photography, or Nature Photography Products or Services. Sometimes when the link upload don't display thumbnails, it's because the image urls are not Jpg, Png, or Gif file.
Warning - Links to inappropriate content, spamming or anything unrelated to Nature Photography will be deleted without warning. Persistent offenders will have their accounts deleted and their IP address blocked.
If you are a registered user, if you like a post, click cool. If you think it is sad or unhelpful, click oops. You can comment on any post, the default only shows the latest 2 comments, and if you want to view more, you need to click - comment - to view more.
The green Subscribe button is located in the Explore section on the Photographers search results, or on the photographers profile page under their Avatar.
After you have subscribed to a Photographer, the next time they post something on their wall, it will appear in your Subscriptions TAB on your profile.
You can unsubscribe from photographers in many ways.
Click the Red Unsubscribe button in their profile
Click the Red Unsubscribe button in the Explore Section
On your Subscriptions Wall - hover your mouse over any of their posts, and click the X that appears in the top right of the post. Two options appear, Hide this post, and Unsubscribe.
You can Subscribe and Unsubscribe as often as you want to manage your content.
Hover your mouse over any post or comment, An X appears in the top right corner of the post. Click the X to delete the post or comment.
There is no confirmation message, when you click delete, the post is gone and cannot be undone.
We really hope our users will respect our guidelines and not use the site for spam and abuse.
You can report a user for 4 things -
Inappropriate Content - Including any Non Nature Photography Relayed content in their profiles, avatars, wall posts or images.
Spam - Posting Links in their wall to anything non Nature Photography Related.
Abuse - Posting inappropriate comments or links on the wall post of another user.
Copyright Infringement - Posting an image in their portfolio that they did not take.
There is a Report This User link on every profile (except your own) - at the bottom of the left side bar. Click this link to report, and specify why.
Or, if a user posts a comment on your wall, you can Report them by clicking the X that appears if you hover over their post.
For minor cases of comments - you can just delete the post yourself.
Reporting the Abuse, will not delete the post, as we need to see it as evidence to determine what action should be taken. We will delete it.
There is a quick search at the bottom of the left side bar in the connect section. Enter the first, last or full name of the person you are looking for. The results open in the Explore Section.
The Products & Services Tab displays any products or services that the photographer has loaded. The are ordered by Category, with the most recent at the top.
Clicking More Info will open a full screen view with a link to the Photographers website where the product or service may be purchased direct.
The Explore Section is a powerful Directory where you can Search & Filter Nature Images & Nature Photographers.
There are two menu option, Images and Photographers. The default is Images with the highest impact.
Use the left side bar to Filter Images shown by Category, Environment & Country.
You can filter the displayed images by
Most Popular = The total number of times the image has been added to Favorites
Most Recent = The latest images loaded on whytake.net
Most Impact = The number of favourites divided by time on the site.
Click the Photographers link on the menu. The default is Photographers with most popular filter
As with images, use the filters at the top of the left side bar.
You can filter the displayed photographers by
Most Popular = The total number of times the Photographer has been Subscribed to
Most Recent = The latest photographers to register on whytake.net
Most Impact = The number of Subscriptions divided by the amount of time since they registered.
What happens if I subscribe to a Photographer?
If you click the Green Subscribe button, the wall posts of that Photographer will appear in the Subscriptions Wall on your profile. This is an excellent way to ensure you receive the posts of photographer you want to keep up to date with.
You can search images by Keyword, which looks at all the tags, location and photographer name associated with images to try and find a match, but you can only type single word as keyword search.
You can search product and service at the explore section, click sub-menu product and service in the grey menu bar.
We are allowed all members upload their product and service comply to our posting guidelines, but no information are verified by whytake.net, therefore all the external links to buy are at user's own risk, please verify the informations with care.
You can filter product and service by categories, language and country if it's relevant.
You can type single keywords to find Products & Services.
If your profile photograph does not adhere to the posting guidelines it will be deleted. It is important for the image of the site for their to be a continuity in the look of users portfolios.
Wall posts are deleted for one of the following three reasons:
- Inappropriate Content : Including any Non Nature Photography related content in your profiles, avatars, wall posts or images.
- Spam : Posting Links on your wall to anything non Nature Photography related.
- Abuse : Posting inappropriate or offensive comments or links.
There are two reasons why a portfolio image would be deleted:
- Inappropriate Content : Including any Non Nature Photography related image or images which do not respect our Posting Guidelines.
- Copyright Infringement : Posting an image in their portfolio that they did not take.
The whytake.net team does not want to delete accounts, but if a user is guilty of serious or persistent breaches of our posting guidelines or terms of use, we will delete their account and block their IP address.
Images are on the site permanently or until they are deleted by the user, or removed due to a breach of posting guidelines. Wall posts are cached for 12 months and will then be deleted.
Products & Services are deleted for one of the following two reasons:
- Inappropriate Content : Including any Non Nature Photography related content
- They fail to comply to our categories and have been inaccurately labelled.
Whytake LLC is not liable for any products or services that users post on the site, however, we will delete anything that we feel does not comply, or appears to not be genuine.
