Bio
My first career was in television broadcasting after leaving college in Southern Oregon, followed by a 30+ year career in high end audio/video products development and manufacturing.

I began to build my portfolio of travel, nature and landscape photography with medium and large format film in the late 1980s. By 2000 I was transitioning from my electronics career into full time photography.

I own and operate Earth & Light Gallery in Kayenta (Ivins) near St. George, Utah. I currently shoot with digital medium format (Pentax), work with Macs and PCs, and print my images with a Canon ipf8300.

Whytake Happy Birthday to Whytake - Launched today three years ago. 11/11/11

We would like to thank all the nature photographers around the world for their contributions and activity. You've helped make Whytake.net such a stunning source of inspiration and an important resource for Nature.

Thank you from Alister, Rafael, Juanli & Anca.
Larry Monczka It's been wonderful to see work by our European colleagues who rarely have the visibility they deserve in North America. Cheers, Larry.

Whytake In memories of Christophe Sidamon-Pesson

All of us at Whytake were very sorry to hear of the passing of Christophe Sidamon-Pesson.

Before photography, there was nature - Since his childhood, Christophe was in contact with it ...

"At the time I did not take pictures but I especially did many drawings, representing mostly nature scenes ... In the wild world we can learn a lot about ourselves" - he said.

Browsing the "world" in search of dreams and ideals, he was a sensitive photographer, with naivety and a unique sincerity. Images of great purity and beauty, which always carry this essential feeling that everyone can experience when in contact with nature. Today it is no more ... his images remain forever etched in our memories.

His photographs have won several awards: the "BBC Wildlife Photographer of the Year" in 2005, "GDT European Wildlife Photographer of the year" in 2008, 2009 and 2010 or the "Audience Award" at the salon Photo in Paris in 2010. Lives of Queyras, he published including "The other side" in the wild of this part of France he loved and he photographed with sensitivity and his talent .

For those who are not familiar with his work, you can visit Christophe Sidamon-Pesson' website: http://www.c-sidamon-pesson.com/accueil-fr.html

Harry Lichtman I wanted to thank you for indirectly introducing me to this site. I was on your site a while back and ended up here somehow. A great collection of images, this one is a fine addition. You boys at Cascadia know how to do it right!
